A Perfect Rainy Weekend

The world has come to Austin and they brought cold air and rain with them. Given the weather and the crowds this native Austinite decided to let the out of towners have the city for the weekend and stayed in and had a most lovely Friday night and Saturday cozy in my house. For a perfect weekend in one needs the necessities and the below are mine.

Comfortable PJ pans with fuzzy socks are a must.

When it's cold as well as rainy you need a fireplace going. Even if it's mostly for show as ours tends to be.

A glass of wine goes perfectly for an evening by the fire

Home made soup is good for a warm lunch or dinner

You need entertainment; for us it was the entire West Wing Series as well as some DVR clean up

And of course some one to hibernate with!

The sun came back on Sunday so I was forced out of my happy shell, but at least I had my perfect rainy Saturday! My guess is the last one for a long time!

March Madness (Or lack there of)

It took an extra day to get here, but March has arrived. March is a special month for me, Isaac and I will celebrate four years together on March 28th and March 26th will be one year engaged. (Yes, it's a long engagement, but it will result in a kick ass honeymoon, so there)!
This month will also see me running my first 10k on March 25th so I will spending the early part of the month getting myself up to 6.2 miles. I'm up to 5.18 miles so far, but that last mile tends to be the hardest one, so fingers crossed.
I get the urge to be out side more in March so that where most of my March goals are found.

  1. 1. Finish Cap 10k (there a pedicure in it for me)
  2. 2. do a little flower growing. I resist the word "gardening" as I will not be digging directly into the ground, but we have some flower pots and Carolina has been after me for a couple years now to put flowers in them so I will try to you know...fill one with dirt and flowers.
  3. 3. I've wanted to show Isaac Enchanted Rock for a couple years now so I'm hoping to get out to Fredericksburg one weekend for a hike. I'm thinking March may be the last month we have weather conducive to hiking.
  4. 4. Go through Carolina's spring/summer stuff from last year and clear out the small stuff and take her shopping for an Easter dress and a few summer things. I don't complain too much about buying the summer stuff for her, it'll get worn April-October so you really get your money's worth!
  5. 5. Take advantage of St. Patrick's Day being on a Saturday! :)

Other than that, I think I just want to enjoy the month, try to enjoy my runs as I work up to the 10k, enjoy my yoga classes and enjoy my little family!

As a follow up to last month, I did get much of what I wanted to done, the junk drawer, junk cabinet and guest room have been cleaned out and all look great! I've kept up on my weekly dinners with for the most part good results and Carolina's room has been bumped to the summer! Eh, sometimes you gotta know when to change the plan!
