Ah, January, the time of year when we look ahead eagerly and
plan for all the good, worthwhile things we are going to do for ourself and
others throughout the year. Most of us, fail miserably at this. So I decided
that instead of setting goals for a year, I’m going to start small and set
monthly goals. A month is easier to grasp and embrace and plan for so with the
exception of the overall theme of 2012 which will be “Marriage and
Honeymoon!!!” I am hoping to set goals for each month that I can more easily
track and follow up on. So here we go: January
1.) Finish
unpacking. Yes, we’ve been home for a week now, what of it?? The suitcases have
been unpacked but souvenirs for others and the laundry I’ve been half assing
for a week are still scattered across the downstairs and bedrooms. I will get
this under control and present gifts to those that they were purchased for. I
was able to get the stairs cleared at lunch today so that gets me off to a
decent start.
2.) Cook
a couple times a month. Isaac very (and I do mean very) generously told a
family member in Spain
that he cooks 95% of the time. Unless he counts the coffee I make every morning
and the breakfast pastry I hand to Carolina some weekends I have no idea how he
designated 5% of the cooking to me. It’s not that I dislike cooking, I just get
bored half way through it, plus Isaac is particular and is able to cook by just
randomly tossing things into the pan and making them taste good so I think
there’s some intimidation as well. But I am determined to be a better fiancee and less of an adult child, so I'm going to try and spend more time in the Kitchen.
3.) Upload
and print some of our vacation photos. Bonus if I get them into frames. I spend
a vast majority of my time in front of the computer, why logging in to Wal
Greens and uploading pictures is so difficult I do not know, but it’s like
pulling teeth to get me to take the time! The most recent pictures we have on
the wall are from almost 3 years ago, it’s time to update.
4.) Sign
up for the Capital 10K. I vowed to never run more than 5 miles at once, but
what the hell, let’s go for 6.2 and run a 10K. Race isn’t until the end of
March so I’ve got time but I want to sign up while the cost is lower and so I
can’t back out of it!
5.) Start
running and going to yoga again. Between our trip, jet lag and a cold I brought
back I’ve had a very hard time getting back into things, but if I’m going to do
the 10K, I’ll have no choice. I started tonight with 30 minutes of intervals on
the treadmill. A nice way to ease back in to the workout grind.
6.) Figure out Pinterest. I was so excited to receive an invite back in December, but then I haven't completely figured out what to do with it. Where do people find all these picture they pin? Can you make your own boards? I'm so overwhelmed, I just need to sit down and figure it out and darn it, I have the app, I will figure this out!
And that’s it, I’m going to start
out slow and we’ll see how this goes!
