Vacation!

I've been a bad blogger lately, not much going on followed by too much going on! I'm going to try to start remeding that. I am currently on the longest vacation from work I've taken. 7 work days off in a row! What could make me take so much time off, set myself up for all the work that comes with coming back from a vacation? Isaac's mom! Mon is visiting us from Madrid for a couple weeks so he and I have both taken time off to spend with her and Carolina, who is staying with us while Mon is here. She's getting spoiled rotten too! All she has to do is begin a sentence with "I want..." and Mon gets it for her! It's been several years since she's seen her though, so the spoiling is earned. Mon arrived late Friday after a flight delay in Madrid caused her to miss her connection in Chicago, the joys of modern travel. :( She finally made it in about 11:30pm and poor Carolina was being literally being held awake! She woke up though, when we got home and presents started being distibuted! Getting to bed at 2am meant that Saturday was a lazy day, followed by dinner out.

Sunday we had a couple friends over and cooked out, mostly we realized we really shouldn't cook out. Too many flies, mosquitos and our grill isn't that great...

Monday was a trip to my Mom and step dads out in the "country". Carolina loved climbing a tree and exploring the huge backyard and woods that I spent much of my childhood exploring, she asked several times why we couldn't live there! The only thing we didn't get to see was the creek, we were all in sandals and you really need tennis shoes to go too far back in the woods.

I was very excited about how well the moms got along. I don't know exactly what I was worried about, but they seemed so different on paper I wasn't sure how things would work out. Luckily above everything they are moms, they bonded over stories about their kids growing up and retirement!
Carolina up a tree!

The mom's bonding while looking for deer (I always find it so funny how my mom still gets excited when she sees a deer! By the time I was about 7 I barely blinked when I saw a deer but my mom always gets excited and points them out for me even today!)
Carolina and I in the woods, I could barely get her to hold still for a picture, she was too excited about running through the trees.

I had to go back to work Tuesday and Wednesday but finally I was free on Thursday. We hit up the Outlet malls where Carolina conned a High School Musical doll and an ice cream cone out of me and then we went to Sams Boat for dinner. Our main reason for going to Sam's Boat was for the raw Oysters but thanks to the oil spill in Gulf we settled for Crawfish and a sampler planner. The best part of the evening though was the margarita!

It looks like we are in the Bahama's, sadly, we are not.

Carolina's favorite part of the day was finally loosing a tooth that had been hanging by a thread for almost a week. The tooth fell out in the late morning but the high stayed with her all day. At various times you'd hear her say "I love my tooth" "My tooth fell out" "I have a hole in my mouth!" The tooth fairy was very kind to her!

Carolina and the extra hole in her mouth!

Whew, it's been a busy few days, I'm going to need a vacation from my vacation!

Up next for tomorrow: Mt. Bonnell, Hula Hut, Mozart's and 6th street!
